Rangers lose HR on first replay

ARLINGTON, Texas — Umpires have used video replay at Rangers Ballpark for the first time Sunday night, and took a home run away from Andruw Jones.

Jones pulled a pitch down the left-field line in the fourth inning off Minnesota’s Francisco Liriano, which hooked near the pole.

Jones apparently knew the ball was foul as he stood at the plate and seemed visibly upset at himself for the early swing. Jones trotted around the bases only after third base umpire Brian O’Nora gave a late signal for a home run.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire charged out of the dugout, and the umpire crew reviewed the play. Jones never removed his batting helmet or put down his bat while waiting for the ruling.

Jones then flew out to center field.
