Shiv Sena threatens Shahrukh Khan for “supporting” Pakistan players
By ANIFriday, January 29, 2010
MUMBAI - Shiv Sena Party on Friday issued a warning to Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan for supporting the selection of Pakistan players in Indian Premiere League (IPL) tournament.
Khan, also a franchisee of Kolkata Knight Riders cricket team in the IPL, had said he wished Pakistan cricketers were playing in the forthcoming edition of this cash-rich tournament.
Khan had made the statement on Wednesday, while promoting his upcoming film ‘My Name is Khan’ in India’s western Ahmedabad city.
Threatening with consequences, Shiv Sena spokesperson, Sanjay Raut, said, “If he has courage, let him take the players… Shahrukh Khan talks about Pakistani players, if he has courage let him take them, let them play, we will see what is to be done then.”
Raut also hit out against Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, franchisee of the Mumbai Indians team of the IPL, for his comment that Mumbai belongs to all Indians.
Admitting that Mumbai and Maharashtra are parts of the country, Raut said, the first right belonged to Maharashtrians, when it came to issues like employment.
“Mumbai is the capital city of Maharashtra and Shiv Sena or Shiv Sena chief have never said that Mumbai or Maharashtra do not belong to the country. We are responsible citizens of this country and Maharashtra is also a part of the country. But when it comes to employment or any such other issue, the first right belongs to the natives (of the city),” said Raut.
Ambani’s comments drew strong criticism from Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray who lashed out against the industrialist in the party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamna’.
Shiv Sena is known for its violent anti-immigrant rhetoric, and the stringent belief that Mumbai belongs to the ethnic Marathi community and not “outsiders”. (ANI)

I’ve noticed half of India’s youth throwing ‘You guys are dumb asses’ remarks and banners at the Shiv Sena online. What we need is a concentrated focussed effort if we’re ever to emerge from the Shiv sena’s choke hold. Mere emails and offhand remarks really aren’t going to accomplish much. |

I heartly support to SHIVSENA.Why we require pakistani player if we have lot of tailents in local player.Give chance to them, give IPL as a platform to them. And why we give support to this pakistani player as they dont have any worthiness to stand on our INDIAN soil.If Shaharukh has any responsibility about nation then he must choose Indian local Ranji player. I strongly condemn Bal Thakre for his remarks given against Shahrukh Khan in his mouth-organ newspaper through which he uses to play his hate speech. Every Indian barring a few hundred gang men (I will not say party men) of Thakres (both Raj and Bal) will firmly condemn statement given by Mr. Raut, spokesmen of Mr. Bal Thakre that he as desired by his mentor Bal Thakre, cannot allow Khan to invite Pakistani player to play cricket in Mumbai, that Khan should go to Karachi or Islamabad for living he has so much love for Pakistani players. Thakre’s gang men passed dirty remarks against Shahrukh Khan‘s newly produced and acted film “My name is Khan”. Every non-Marathi will fear in going to Mumbai and a day will come when Marathis will be beaten and abused if found outside Maharashtra. If honorable Man Mohan Singh continues to allow anarchy to grow in the fashion it is growing in Maharashtra and spreading in other parts of the country slowly but steadily like cancer of corruption or naxalism or terrorism. Price rise is adding fuel to fire. I have no doubt that Man Mohan Singh is facing erosion in his respectability in the country. There is no hesitation to me in requesting voters of Maharashtra to teach a lesson to Congress Party and Shiv Sena in the next election. I do not hesitate in blaming BJP too who is associated with party like Shiv Sena for the sake of political survival in the state of Maharashtra. |
