Spain’s Casillas latest to slam World Cup ball

INNSBRUCK, Austria — Spain’s Iker Casillas has joined the list of goalkeepers who have criticized the design of the ball to be used at the World Cup.

After the European champion’s 3-2 exhibition win over Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Casillas said it was disappointing that such an important competition has “this ball of appalling condition.”

Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar called the Adidas ball “terrible” and likened it to something from a “grocery store.”

Casillas said goalkeepers aren’t alone in complaining about the ball.

The tournament in South Africa begins June 11.
