LAS VEGAS (GaeaTimes.com)- The NHL Awards, which recognizes renowned players of the National Hockey League for their impressive performances during the past year, was held last night in Las Vegas. The spectacular event which took place at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort witnessed the presence of some of the most celebrated names of the NHL, many of whom were bestowed with honors for the stunning feat that he had displayed over the year.

One of the stars of the NHL Awards 2010 turned out to be Henrik Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks who was able to register the Hart Trophy with an impressive 894 total votes, leaving behind NHL superstars such as Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin as well as Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite the fact that Alex Ovechkin was able to clinch the Ted Lindsay Award, which honors the most outstanding player of the league, his inability to reserve the Hart Trophy must surely have been quite disappointing given the fact that he had won the trophy for the past two years.

Meanwhile, Chicago Blackhawks’ Duncan Keith won the very first Norris Trophy of his career by defeating Washington’s Mike Green by 265 points while Tyler Myers of the Buffalo Sabres took home the Calder Trophy which is given to the best rookie, by almost an unanimous decision. At the same time, another Buffalo’s player Ryan Miller was honored with his first Vezina Trophy as the best goalie of the league. The NHL Awards 2010 recognized the works of a number of other NHL players who were present at the event and turned it into a grand success.
