Form slump not due to ‘old age’, says Ponting

LONDON - Australia captain Ricky Ponting has said that his form slump is not due to ‘old age’.
When asked if age had slowed his reflexes, Ponting said: “I’d like to think everything is as sharp as it’s always been.”
“It would have been nice to get more runs, there were a lot of questions coming into the game about getting my name on the (Lord’s honour) board,” he added.
Despite scoring one Test century in the past 12 months and failing twice in the first Test against Pakistan at Lord’s, Ponting further insists that he is in good form.
“My last few dismissals have been two run outs and two that I have hit out of the middle of the bat and gone straight into bat pad’s hands,” Fox Sports quoted Ponting, as saying.
“I actually felt I was just starting to get things moving in the first innings at Lord’s and to have a dismissal like that (caught at bat pad) was a bit of a kick in the backside,” he added.
The second and the final Test against Pakistan starts at Leeds on Wednesday. (ANI)
