ALAMEDA (GaeaTimes.com)- Michael Bush, the running back for the Oakland Raiders, who suffered a broken left thumb on Saturday night during the team’s play against the San Francisco 49ers, is scheduled to undergo a surgery for the same on Monday. Coach Tom Cable on Sunday mentioned to media sources that Michael Bush is expected to recuperate soon from the surgery and join the team in its season opening game on Sep 12.

Michael Bush broke his thumb during his final carry when he was hit by the helmet of an opponent. Coach Tom Cable seemed hopeful on Sunday of the players’ return to the field on time before the beginning of the season. He held that there is a “good chance” that the player will return to the Oakland Raiders for the Sept. 12 game in Tennessee. He also mentioned that by that time Michael Bush most likely would not need a cast on his finger.

Running back Michael Bush has played a crucial role in the Oakland Raider’s offensive backfield. As Justin Fargas has been released by the team, it has built high expectation on Michael Bush who had gone for 589 yards rushing last season. As per reports, Michael Bush and Darren McFadden will be seen to lead the running back load of the team this season. However, both the player has suffered injury during the preseason games. Apart from Michael Bush, Quarterback Jason Campbell also suffered a minor injury on Saturday. Tom Cable said to media sources that the injury suffered by Jason Campbell does not appear to be serious. Jason Campbell was hurt on a sack by Travis LaBoy during the second quarter of the game on Saturday.
