ABU DHABI - Pakistan coach Waqar Younis believes that Australia’s bowlers have the edge over England, and hold the key to an Ashes series victory.

Australia have not lost an Ashes series Down Under since 1986/87, but have been struggling in recent months and suffered a 2-0 Test whitewash on their recent tour of India.

“Whoever bowls well will win the Ashes and with four good seamers Australia hold a slight edge over England,” the Age quoted Waqar, as saying.

“Australia clearly looks better placed in taking 20 wickets in a Test and for me they start as favourites,” he added.

England have arrived Down Under to defend the urn they claimed with a 2-1 success on home soil last year.

The first of the five Ashes Tests will be held at The Gabba in Brisbane from November 25 to 29.

It will be followed by Tests in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

The tour also has two Twenty20 clashes and a seven-match ODI series. (ANI)
