ADELAIDE - Australian batsman Michael Hussey has defended Marcus North, saying that the under-siege batsman could become a major problem for England on day five of the second Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval.

North will join Hussey when Australia resumes their second innings at 238-4 on Tuesday, with 98 overs to survive.

Hussey hopes that the challenge of retaining the Ashes would be the perfect stage for North to bounce back to his best form. He’s a class player and I have no doubt he’ll definitely score runs,” Fox Sports quoted Hussey, as saying.

“He’s a champion player, a champion guy to have around the team and we want him to be part of the team, so we’re behind him all the way.”

“It’s just about him going out there and enjoying it, trusting his game, and I’m sure he’ll be fine,” he added.

North has not reached double figures in nine of his past 18 Test innings. (ANI)
