Urban Meyer Stepping Down

TALLAHASSEE (GaeaTimes.com)- On Wednesday, Florida Gators football team’s head coach Urban Meyer announced that he is stepping down from his post. He released a statement where it was stated that he is stepping down to focus on his other business and family, away from the field. The media outlets report that Dan Mullen of Mississippi State Bulldogs and Charlie Strong of University of Louisville Cardinals can replace him for the next season.

The athletic director of Florida University, Jeremy Foley said that the head coach called him to speak about his retirement. However, he mentioned that Urban Meyer would be the coach of Florida Gators’ till Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day. Urban Meyer said that for last 25 years he has been the “Division I” football coach. He added that during that time his primary focus was to make a difference in the lives of young players. He said that he had been fortunate to be the coach of a team. He said that though his decision to move out of the field is difficult but he feels that it is the perfect time for him to retire.

On the other hand, Dan Mullen told a reputed media source that Urban Meyer was a “tremendous” ambassador of the football team. Dan Mullen also said that the former coach of Florida Gators has been a great mentor to him and hoped that Urban Meyer enjoys his time with his family and friends. Even Jeremy Foley said that Urban Meyer is not retiring from his post owing to his heath issues but he needed time to spend with his family.
