600 contestants at Agra’s National Women’s Sports Meet

AGRA - Eighteen teams and more than 600 contestants from different states will take part in the three-day 36th National Women’s Sports Meet beginning at the Eklavya Stadium here Monday.

Regional sports officer Ajai Kumar Sethi said arrangements for the stay of the sportspersons had been made.

A team of SAI officials led by Tej Kaul, is here to oversee the conduct of the events. International coach Rustam Khan supervised the preparation of athletics tracks. The tennis courts and the badminton hall are ready, members of the organising committee told media persons Sunday evening.

The meet would be declared open Monday morning by the state horticulture minister Narayan Singh.

Uttar Pradesh sports director Hari Om visited all the sites and reviewed the level of preparedness two days ago, directing local officials to ensure that the teams did not face any problems during their stay in the Taj city.

Sports officials said this would be the biggest sporting event for women atheletes.
