SYDNEY - Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has added his support to the campaign calling for leg-spin legend Shane Warne’s return to the Test arena to salvage the Ashes series against England.

Speculation that Australia’s all-time leading wicket taker could return to Test cricket has intensified after England won the Adelaide Test by an innings-and-71-runs to go 1-0 up in the five-match series.

“It’s not just what he can do as a bowler - it’s what he’d do to their batsmen’s minds. It is the mental side as well,” the Sun-Herald quoted Lee, as saying.

“Can you imagine the English cricket team having to deal with the idea that the great Shane Warne, the bloke who terrorised them for 15 years, was going to return in Melbourne or Sydney?”

“Shane Warne is a unique sort of guy in that he seems to write his own scripts. The Boxing Day Test at the MCG is tailor-made for his return, I reckon,” he added.

Warne has not ruled out the idea of a return, and has stated that the calls for him to come back are “very flattering”. (ANI)
