NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com) — Craig Brown believes he has a twin task as Aberdeen’s new manager - to restore local pride in their team and instil confidence in his players.

Brown, who arrived from Motherwell with assistant Archie Knox, was holding his first media conference after being chosen as successor to Mark McGhee.

The Hamilton-born 70-year-old began his managerial career with Clyde, had a spell with Preston North End and had been with Scottish Premier League rivals Motherwell for nearly a year.

But Brown is most renowned for his eight years as Scotland manager and he was asked to compare his role at Pittodrie with that as national coach.

Brown was in the stand on Saturday as the Dons suffered a 5-0 thrashing by Hearts that left them bottom of the Scottish Premier League.

His next game in charge comes on Saturday - at home to his former charges at Motherwell.
