Broad’s absence would provide fast-bowling advantage to Australia: Fleming

SYDNEY - Former Australian fast bowler Damien Fleming believes that England fast bowler Stuart Broad’s absence for the rest of the Ashes series would give the home side a fast-bowling advantage.
“I do think it’s our best opportunity to win because Stuart Broad’s a big [loss]. If we get a pitch which is suited to fast bowlers I’ll back our quicks against their quicks,” the Age quoted Fleming, as saying.
“They’ve got James Anderson, 21-year-old [Steve] Finn, who’s been impressive, and [Chris] Tremlett, [Tim] Bresnan or [Ajmal] Shahzad - they’re not superstars.”
“If we can defuse the [Graeme] Swann factor and make it a bowl-out between the quicks I’m backing our boys,” he added.
Broad was ruled out after the second Test in Adelaide with a torn abdominal muscle.
The 24-year-old was expected to be one of England’s most influential players on the tour. (ANI)
