LAHORE - Pakistani fast bowler Sohail Tanvir has been ruled out of the tour to New Zealand with a knee injury.

Tanvir was named in the Test and Twenty20 squads announced last month, but the selectors had made it clear that his trip would be subject to fitness, as the left-arm fast bowler was recovering from a ‘career saving surgery’.

“He is not fully fit, he tried hard in the camp, but he requires more time as he faces problems while fielding,” the Daily Times quoted team manager Intikhab Alam, as saying.

“The selectors will decide later on who will replace Tanvir for the Test matches,” he added.

The injury had forced Tanvir to face a long and at times lonely road to recovery, during which he missed the November 2009 tour of New Zealand, the tour of Australia, the 2010 Twenty20 World Cup, the Asia Cup, the tour of England, and the series against South Africa. (ANI)
