SONEPAT - In a bid to give boost to the sports infrastructure in the state, the Haryana government said Wednesday that it planned to set up sports clubs at over 360 stadiums.

“We (hope to) promote sports like hockey, football, athletics and boxing. We are also contemplating joining hands with private players to create sufficient career opportunities for sportspersons,” Haryana’s director of sports and youth affairs O.P. Singh said here.

Singh was interacting with delegates of the Commonwealth Advisory Board on Sports drawn from 30 countries. The delegates came to study the state government’s Sports and Physical Aptitude Test (SPAT).

In the Commonwealth Games of October, sportspersons from Haryana won 37 of 101 medals won by India.
