Nathan McCullum picked to effectively close Kiwi innings in WC 2011

WELLINGTON - New Zealand middle-order batsman Nathan McCullum has apparently been picked for the World Cup in the Indian subcontinent because of his ability to finish of the innings on a high.

He has stepped into the spotlight in the middle order with two half centuries in his past three innings.lready a certain selection with his outstanding fielding and tidy off-spin bowling suited for the sub-continent, McCullum is now likely to bat at No.7 or No.8, inheriting a role his younger brother used to rule in his earlier days in the team.

“It’s something I’ve done for a few years now for Otago so I am comfortable with it,” stuff.co.nz quoted McCullum, as saying before the team left New Zealand last night bound for India. (ANI)
