BANGALORE - Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has said that he would like his team to meet India in the April 2 World Cup final, as he believes the match would boost international cricket and draw billions of viewers.

“If that happens it would be ideal for the World Cup, one-day format and for the game of cricket,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Afridi, as saying.

India and Pakistan are in separate groups at the 14-team World Cup, hosted by Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka starting next Saturday.

Afridi said: “Both India and Pakistan have to play above their potential to reach the final but it would be ideal for billions of people around the world.’

Afridi, who will be playing his fourth World Cup, said further said beating India in the Mumbai final would be the “icing on the cake”. (ANI)
