Ten-year-old shooting prodigy in National Games

RANCHI - Yash Yogeshwar Padloskar is only 10 years old, but has become the first shooter to represent Goa in the National Games.

Yash participated in the qualifying round of the 10 meter air rifle event, finishing 34th among the total 80 competitors.

Shooting runs in his blood. His father Yogeshwar Padloskar is also an ace shooter with many medals to boast of in the national competitions, the latest being the silver medal won at the All India Competition at Indore.

Yash had always been fascinated with shooting and has been trying his hand at it since the age of seven. He has the distinction of winning three gold medals in the 10 metre air rifle in the state in the open category.

The family have their own shooting range at Mapusa in Goa.

“I want to give my son the best possible training and would not hesitate to send him abroad for the same in the future,” said Yash’s father.

Yash, a class five student of Mapusas Saraswat Vidyalaya, is already a local icon in the school and many of his school mates look up to him.
