RANCHI - Gymnast Rucha Divekar is a three-time junior champion at the age of 15 and she is confident of replicating her the success in the ongoing 34th National Games.

Rucha is representing Maharashtra in the Games and will compete in both the individual and the team events. She won the junior titles in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Rucha picked up the sport when she was six-year-old, her father being the source of her inspiration. She is the favourite of her coach Ram Krishna Lokhande. “Rucha is my favourite student and she has all the potentials of becoming a leading gymnast of the country,” said Lokhande.

Rucha is taking part in the National Games for the first time but she is not nervous about the tougher competition.

“I am aware of the challeneges in competing at this level. I am ready to take them head-on,” said Rucha.

Her next aim is to represent India in the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games.

“I am not looking at Olympics qualification. The realistic aim is to get to the easier international events.”
