London, Feb.26 (ANI): Banishing the blues: Arsenal manager Arshne Wenger hopes his team can overcome a psychological hurdle by winning the Carling Cup.
Wenger must be the first man to see Carling as the perfect cure for a six-year-long hangover.

According to the Telegraph, Wenger deeply covets a trophy devised 50 seasons ago as a nice little midweek earner for clubs.

He appreciates the psychological benefits-victory will put fear to flight and accelerate a young team’s development.

“Winning the Carling Cup will be like beating Chelsea, like beating Barcelona - another step forward,” said Wenger, talking after training at London Colney yesterday.

He added: “I want my team to go from strength to strength now. The average age of this team against Barcelona was over 23. The average age of Barcelona was over 27. At that level, four years is massive, yet we managed to beat them. So we gained a lot of confidence from that.” Success tomorrow will intensify that belief. (ANI)
