LeGarrette Blount hasn’t learned from his earlier mistakes as it seems. Blount punched Boise State player Byron Hout on Thursday night after losing his cool. If you remember it correctly, earlier this year Blount had already faced another suspension due to some academic reasons. That suspension had kept him out of the spring practice. But Thursday’s incident is another issue altogether, punching an opponent and attempting to fight fans of the opponent team will not let Blount escape with any light punishment.

Second seed Andy Murray successfully takes on Latvian big hitter Ernests Gulbis in the US Open first round match and defeats him 7-5, 6-3, 7-5. On Tuesday night at Flushing Meadows, New York, Murray took two hours sixteen minutes to defeat Gulbis. The 22 year old Scot had earlier defeated Gulbis three times consecutively and patiently took advantage of the Latvian’s 51 unforced errors.
The powerful Latvian, Gulbis, with a world ranking of 95, gave four easy consecutive breaks to Murray early in the sixth game. But then the promising Latvian made a comeback, not allowing Murray to take a straight set win, by hitting some awesome winners.
Gulbis made sure not to make Murray’s win a piece of cake. In a tough match that followed it appeared that the game was moving towards a tie-breaker but at the last moment Gulbis made certain mistakes and that were punished by Murray. This resulted in Gulbis‘ moving down to 0-40.
BBC Sport reported Murray saying, “I was giving him chances to break me, but when I needed to I upped my game. My concentration could have been better, but for a first match it was very good because he played very well, a lot better than at Wimbledon.” The final set saw Murray sprawled on the court when he attempted to revert with a backhand half-volley.
Murray now moves forward to the next match where he will face Paul Capdeville of Chile. Capdeville is world number 87 and is well known to Murray. “We had the same coach, trained at the same academy and we did one or two trips together,” Murray says of Capdeville, BBC Radio 5 live reported.
