USGA makes plans for Monday finish

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — U.S. Open fans who had tickets for Thursday can use them for completion of the tournament Monday.

Nearly an inch of rain overnight caused another delay Sunday, meaning the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black won’t be completed until Monday at the earliest.

The USGA says spectators with tickets from Thursday, when play was stopped after only three hours, can use them for Monday.

The USGA will also admit anyone with Monday tickets, and if no more than 90 minutes of golf is played Sunday, those tickets will also be honored.

It will be the first time since 1983 that the U.S. Open doesn’t finish on Sunday in regulation.
