Titans CB Harper starts after initially ruled out

CANTON, Ohio —Tennessee Titans cornerback Nick Harper did in fact start the Hall of Fame game on Sunday night after he was initially ruled out.

Harper started the game against the Bills, and made a tackle on Buffalo’s first play from scrimmage — a 3-yard run by Marshawn Lynch. He also stayed in the game for the second defensive series.

It was not clear what led to the decision to have Harper play. He had missed practice on Friday.

The Titans were minus starting linebacker Stephen Tulloch, who had missed practice Friday because of an undisclosed injury. Also out for Tennessee were receivers Mark Jones, who’s nursing a hamstring injury, and Kenny Britt. Britt, the team’s first-round draft pick, didn’t start practicing until Friday after recovering from a hamstring injury.

The Bills were minus starting right tackle Brad Butler, who’s nursing a sore back, and reserve cornerback Ashton Youboty.
