Bond denied for man suspected of killing boxer

ATLANTA — A judge in Atlanta has denied bond for a 30-year-old man suspected of shooting and killing ex-boxing champion Vernon Forrest.

Charman Sinkfield appeared before a magistrate at the Fulton County jail Thursday morning on murder and weapon-related charges.

Police say he was arrested the previous night driving a black sedan on a highway in Atlanta, wearing a wig that gave the appearance of dreadlocks.

Two other men have been arrested and charged with murder in the case, but Atlanta Police spokesman Eric Schwartz said they believe Sinkfield was the triggerman.

Forrest, a native of Augusta, Ga., who lived in Atlanta, won welterweight and junior middleweight titles and compiled a professional record of 41-3 with 29 knockouts.
