Bhupathi, Paes enter US Open mixed doubles semis

NEW YORK - Ace Indian players Leander Peas and Mahesh Bhupathi have entered the semi-finals of the mixed doubles of the US Open with their respective partners.

Leander Paes and Cara Black of Zimbabwe beat Rennae Stubbs and Robert Lindstedt to enter the mixed doubles semi-finals.

Mahesh Bhupathi and his mixed doubles partner Liezel Huber of USA beat eighth Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Nenad Zimonjic in a straight set of 6-4, 6-3 to make it to the semi finals.

Bhupathi and Huber will play against the unseeded pair of Carly Gullickson and Travis Parrott in the semi-final.

Both Paes and Bhupathi have also entered the quarterfinals of the men’s double championship with their respective partners.

Paes and Lukas Dlouhy defeated the Austrian duo of Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer 7-5, 6-4.

They now play against the seventh-seeded South Africa’s Wesley Moodie and Belgium’s Dick Norman in the fourth round. (ANI)
