ceberaPHILADELPHIA — Yankees center fielder Melky Cabrera left Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday night with a slightly strained left hamstring.

Brett Gardner took over in center in the sixth inning, with New York leading the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2. The Yankees went on to a 7-4 victory to take a 3-1 lead in the Series.

After the meeting, Cabrera took his position in center field, but before CC Sabathia threw another pitch, Girardi popped out of the dugout again, spoke to plate umpire Mike Everitt and removed Cabrera from the game.

Cabrera reached on an infield single in the fifth inning and scored New York’s fourth run on Johnny Damon’s single. The switch-hitter batted .274 this season with 13 homers and 68 RBIs, delivering some notable clutch hits.

Cabrera is hitting .271 this postseason with four RBIs. He is 2 for 13 (.154) in the World Series.
