Philadelphia - World Series Game 5 2009 between the Yankees and the Phillies say the latter emerging as the victor. The win thus narrows down the lead of the New York Yankees against their opponents in the series. Yankees had won three matches while Phillies had won two matches so far in the series. The Game 5 of the World Series 2009 was close and the final score of the match recorded 8-6.

Philadelphia Phillies team, which has lost the earlier matches in the series needed to play well if they wanted to remain in the series. They had played the game tactfully and did not allow the Yankees to secure one more win upon them. Chase Utley’s hard driven performance proved fruitful for the team who were trying hard to break the jinx of their previous debacle at the hands of Yankees. The homer of Utley paved the way of victory for the Phillies.

New York Yankees wanted to secure their position in the series by winning the World Series Game 5 2009, but their hopes were dashed during the eighth and the ninth inning of the match. Their points in the eighth and ninth inning of the game was not enough to give them a victory against the Phillies. Alex Rodriguez who had been performing well in this season had also displayed good performance in this game. However, that did not help the team secure a win.
