Bute successfully defends title

QUEBEC CITY — Undefeated Lucian Bute successfully defended his IBF super-middleweight title Saturday night, stopping Librado Andrade with a left uppercut to the midsection at 2:57 of the fourth round.

The Romanian-born Bute, 25-0 with 20 knockouts, was making the fourth defense of his IBF crown and his second against Andrade, who pushed the left-hander to the limit 13 months ago, knocking down the exhausted champion with just seconds left.

Andrade dropped to 28-3. He lives in La Habra, Calif., and trains in Montreal.
