LONDON - Former Manchester United legend Bryan Robson rates Wayne Rooney a better team player than Drogba.

According to the Daily Express, Robson would rather have Rooney in his team than Drogba, whom he does not see as one of the world’s top strikers despite scoring 15 goals in all competitions this season.

“Would I rather have Rooney than Drogba? Every day. For his work rate, his mentality and his toughness,” said Robson.

“I’m not going to knock Drogba. He’s a top player and most managers would want him in the team.

Ideally, I’d like both of them, but if I had to pick one, it would be Wayne. He could set all kinds of records if he steers clear of injury.”

“He is a young lad and you don’t get as many injuries at his age, but the wear and tear of twisting and tackling makes you that bit more susceptible to injury as you get older,” Robson added.

Robson, who has taken time off from his job as Thailand coach to travel to Germany with Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad, and assessed United’s upcoming fixtures and feels they could be top of the table by the end of January.

“It is always the same in any season you go into - you get to Christmas and look at where you are,” he said. (ANI)
