Tottenham stars’ secret Christmas party disgrace

LONDON - Tottenham Hotspur’s players are being criticised for organising a secret Christmas party without the knowledge of manager Harry Redknapp in Dublin, Ireland.

According to reports, 16 first-team stars contributed 2,000 pounds each to party organiser Robbie Keane for the bash after Redknapp allowed them to go on what he believed was a golf trip.

Six of the players are also believed to have hired a private jet to fly there and back.

The party came just four days before their 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves.

Redknapp had earlier insisted that there would be no Christmas party for his players this year, but did give them permission for a golf trip to Dublin.

“Wednesday was their day off and Robbie told me they were going to Ireland to play golf. I had no problem with that. However, it is widely known that I do not approve of Christmas parties and I’ve always made it clear players should only drink in moderation,” The Sun quoted Redknapp, as saying.

He further said that he despite the bash, he did not perceive it as the reason behind Spurs defeat to Wolves.

“Whatever happened in Ireland, I do not accept it had any effect on the result against Wolves. The squad trained brilliantly on Thursday and Friday and there were other reasons why we lost that match,” Redknapp said.

“On Wednesday this week, when we beat Man City 3-0, you could see the true character and talent in this team,” he added. (ANI)
