Snowstorm grounds Canadiens on Long Island

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The Montreal Canadiens were forced to spend an extra night on Long Island because of a storm that dumped more than 2 feet of snow.

After their 3-0 victory over the Islanders on Saturday night, the club waited an hour on its charter plane before the flight was postponed until 4 p.m. Sunday.

Canadiens spokesman Dominick Saillant said the team arrived in Atlanta early Sunday night for a game Monday night against the Thrashers.
