Sednev wins 20K race in biathlon World Cup

ANTERSELVA, Italy — Serguei Sednev used perfect shooting to win a 20-kilometer mass start race Thursday in the biathlon World Cup.

The Ukrainian didn’t miss a single target and finished in 54 minutes, 6.7 seconds to beat Daniel Mesotitsch of Austria by 44.9 seconds. Alexis Boeuf of France was third, another 9.4 seconds back.

Overall World Cup leader Evgeny Ustyugov of Russia skipped the event but still tops the standings with 412 points. Emil Hegle Svendsen of Norway is second at 384.
