MELBOURNE - British tennis star Andy Murray produced some awesome tennis on Tuesday against defending champion Rafael Nadal, before the latter withdrew from their match injured.

The 22-year-old Scotsman led their quarter-final 6-3 7-6 (7-2) 3-0 before Nadal pulled out shortly after receiving treatment for a knee injury, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Nadal had been the reigning champion in three grand slam events after winning last year’s Australian Open, along with his 2008 French Open and Wimbledon crowns.

Murray faces Croatian Marin Cilic in what will be the third grand slam semi-final of his career, and looks to be on course for his first major title. (ANI)
