VANCOUVER (GaeaTimes.com)- The fans of figure skating are rejoicing after the news “Evan Lysacek wins gold” at Vancouver Winter Olympics has been revealed. He competed with 5 candidates on Thursday and emerged the winner at the end. Among his contestants there were two world champions, too. It was a close fight between the candidates and at first it could not be ascertained whether Evan Lysacek would win the gold or not. However, the wait proved to be rewarding for the candidate and his coach.

As the news “Evan Lysacek wins gold” was announced his coach Frank Carroll became ecstatic and congratulated the skater. They hugged each other. The skater took some time to let the emotion seep in his brain and he was beside himself with delight. The 24 year old skating legend Evan Lysacek managed to edge ahead of his closest rival Yevgeny Plushenko of Russia. With this win, he became the first American to win the medal after 22 years. Last time, this feat was achieved by Brian Boitano. That was way back in 1988.

Evan Lysacek won gold and everyone was awestruck with his blazing performance. He ended the Russian dominance in the sports. The Russian skaters have continuously won Olympics gold since 1992 in this sports and the American skater broke the trend yesterday. The third place went to Daisuke Takahashi who is Japanese national champion. It was amazing to see the national champion Jeremy Abbott coming at 9th place. Anyhow, nobody could deny that the evening belonged to Evan Lysacek.
