VANCOUVER, CANADA (GaeaTimes.com)- Shaun White of USA has won the gold medal in the Olympic Halfpipe men’s final event on Wednesday, February 17. The win comes as his second in the Olympic Winter games in two consecutive years. He provided a huge lead at the very first run which made his win obvious before the second run only.

In the Cypress mountain Shaun White gave a brilliant performance and thrilled the audience with his trade mark tricks. He performed some of the dangerous tricks and got the praise not only of the views but also of the judges who endowed him with enough points to make it to the gold medal. He performed his signature Double McTwist 1260 and also two back flips with a 3.5 rotation on board. These tricks were enough to give him a lead and his viewer a spectacle. He ended up scoring a huge 46.8 points. He had by then already broken his previous year’s score 45.3. Even then he continued a spectacular run for the second trip. He took this opportunity to make a golden second run to victory where he managed to score 48.6. This made Shaun White’s win of the gold medal not only spectacular but also a part of history as the highest score. In this event a person can score a maximum of 50 points and his margin now seems unbeatable.

The halfpipe men’s final got Finland’s Peetu Piiroinen the silver medal and USA’s Scotty Lago a bronze to add to his country’s medal chase. This brings United States to the leading position in the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 with 6 Gold, 5 Silver, 7 bronze medals.
