Delayed by traffic, Jimenez comes out of bullpen

TEMPE, Ariz. — Next time, maybe Ubaldo Jimenez will just take the team bus.

Held up by a traffic jam, Jimenez arrived too late to start Friday and instead made his spring training debut out of the bullpen for the Colorado Rockies.

Slated to pitch against the Los Angeles Angels, Jimenez opted to drive himself to the ballpark rather than ride with the team. But a bus crash that killed six people and left more than 15 others injured just south of Tempe caused major traffic in the area.

Jimenez was delayed nearly two hours by the accident and worked the fourth and fifth innings for a Rockies split squad in a 7-5 victory over the Angels.

The right-hander allowed three hits and four runs (three earned) in two innings.
