Hantuchova to face Cibulkova in Monterrey semi

MONTERREY, Mexico — Daniela Hantuchova will face Slovakian compatriot Dominika Cibulkova in the semifinals of the Monterrey Open after both came from a set down to win Friday.

Second-seeded Hantuchova beat Vania King of the United States, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, while fourth-seeded Cibulkova was a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 winner over Hungary’s Agnes Szavay in the outdoor hard court event.

The other semifinal will be between third-seeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and unseeded Latvian Anastasija Sevastova.

Pavlyuchenkova beat Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-2 in the most comfortable of the quarterfinals, while Sevastova overcame France’s Alize Cornet 2-6, 7-5, 6-1.
