Rockies, Mariners tie at 11

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Brad Eldred hit a solo homer in Colorado’s three-run eighth inning to help the Rockies tie the Seattle Mariners 11-11 on Friday night.

The teams combined for 36 hits in the exhibition game that lasted 3 hours, 47 minutes before it was called after nine innings.

The Mariners took an 11-3 lead after 4½ innings, with Chone Figgins’ first home run of the spring sparking a four-run first. Figgins had three hits and four RBIs.

The Rockies hit four homers to get back in the game.

Carlos Gonzalez, Brad Hawpe and Ryan Spilborghs homered for Colorado, which still trailed 11-8 entering the eighth inning. Eric Young Jr. drove home a run with a triple, then scored after Dexter Fowler got caught in a run down on a steal attempt. Eldred then hit a two-out shot to right field to tie it.
