NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- The New York Jets have acquired wide receiver Santonio Holmes of Pittsburgh Steelers by trading a fifth-round draft pick which is scheduled for later this month. The inclusion of Santonio Holmes in the New York Jets team was disclosed to the media on Sunday. The player had played a crucial role in the Pittsburgh Steelers team in the 2009 Super Bowl game and the new team is hoping to get benefited with the new inclusion. However, with the inclusion of Santonio Holmes in the team, the count of players with troubled past had increased in the New York Jets roster.

Santonio Holmes was in a good form last season and had managed to become the MVP of the Super Bowl 2009. As a receiver of the Pittsburgh Steelers team last year he had caught the winning catch with just 35 seconds remaining for the game to end. He had last year managed to have 79 receptions for 1,248 yards along with five touchdowns. There is no doubt about the fact that the player is riding high on his professional front. However, Santonio Holmes’ personal life out of the field seems to be continually in some or the other trouble.

Santonio Holmes was in the past accused of possessing marijuana, though the charge was withdrawn later on. That is not the only charge that the player had been accused of in his past. He had also been accused of domestic violence and assault. Santonio Holmes was recently accused by a woman of throwing glass at her at an Orlando nightclub which according to her had caused a deep cut above one of her eyes.
