Melbourne, Apr.16 (ANI): Australian tennis star Jelena Dokic’s father and former coach Damir has been released from prison and is on parole until May 6.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Damir was released from prison after almost a year behind bars for threatening to bomb the Australian embassy in Belgrade.

His lawyer Bosiljka Djukic said Dokic was released from jail in the western Serbian town of Sabac about 6 p.m. local time and took a taxi home.

His freedom came three days after his daughter’s 27th birthday, but a reunion is unlikely as Jelena has categorically ruled out seeing her father again.

Dokic, 51, was arrested at his Serbian home last May after making threats in a phone call to the embassy and in an interview with a Serbian newspaper.

He had been enraged by his daughter’s comments in a magazine interview that she had fled his physical abuse. (ANI)
