FOXBORO (GaeaTimes.com)- Cornerback Devin McCourty of the Rutgers joins the New England Patriots after the first round of the NFL Draft pick. The day turned out to be a great one for the player who seemed more than happy about the selection. Devin McCourty was the 27th overall selection of the draft pick and was eyed not only by the New England Patriots but also by the coach of the New York Jets Rex Ryan reportedly.

Devin McCourty is considered a versatile player. He is known for his excellent speed and has to his credit a time post of 4.42 seconds for a 40 yard dash. Apart from speed, Devin McCourty has in 2009 returned 14 kickoffs for 356 yards. However he is not a strong defense man and many share the view that he has an average balling skill. The player who has played 52 games has managed 80 tackles. The team is confident that the new player will add to the team’s success. Greg Sachiano, the coach of the Rutgers team said that the first round draft pick of Devin McCourty speaks volume about the credibility of the player. He added that the pick not only proves Devin McCourty to be a great player but also speaks about his work ethics.

After the NFL draft pick, Devin McCourty said that it is an incredible feeling to be a part of the New England Patriots team and added that he is proud to be a “Patriot”. He added that his family too is happy about the selection. As a player Devin McCourty considers himself to be competitive who will go to “compete every chance he gets”.
