BRIDGETOWN - After having helped his team register a resounding win over South Africa in an important Super Eight stage clash of the ICC World T20 Championship, hard hitting England middle-order batsman Kevin Pietersen would be flying home for the birth of his first child.

Speaking during the post match ceremony after his team’s 39-run win against the Proteas at the Kensington Oval here, Pietersen said he is just can’t wait to be with his pregnant wife.

Pietersen, however, said he expects to return back to West Indies in the likelihood of England making it to the semi-final stage.

“It’s my first child so it’s a hell of an exciting time for me. I’ll be dashing across the Atlantic and hopefully dashing back,” The News quoted Pietersen, as saying.

“I’m flying back to London in the next 24 hours and hoping everything goes well and according to plan, there’s no complications. If we get through to the semi-finals, I’ll come in the day before the semi-finals,” the to-be-father said.

Ravi Bopara is likely to fill in the number three slot vacated by Pietersen, who has been in prime form in ongoing championship.

England will take on New Zealand in their last Super Eight fixture on Monday. (ANI)
