NUREMBERG, Germany — Karim Ziani fired home a second-half penalty to give Algeria a 1-0 win over the United Arab Emirates in a World Cup warmup.

The midfielder for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga scored in the 51st minute Saturday during a lackluster performance six days ahead of the World Cup kickoff. The victory on Saturday came a week after Algeria’s 3-0 loss to Ireland.

The Algerians will play Slovenia, England and the United States in Group C.
