COPENHAGEN - Danish coach Morten Olsen rested Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner at Monday’s training session, a week before the World Cup opener against Holland.

Bendtner focused on physical training instead, Danish news agency Ritzau reported from the training camp.

The forward who has not appeared in Denmark’s two recent tune-up matches was confident he would be fit from a groin injury for the June 14 opener.

Defender Simon Kjaer, who injured a knee in Denmark’s tune-up match against Senegal last month, was also rested. But Olsen said that the decision to rest the two players was “according to plan”.

Denmark’s other group opponents are Cameroon and Japan.
