Sodhi wins gold at ISSF World Cup in Italy

FEROZPUR - Family members of ace Indian shooter Ronjan Singh Sodhi erupted in joy, after he won a gold medal in a double trap event at the ongoing ISSF World Cup in Italy.

“I am feeling very good. We have all come together to celebrate and every family member has come to congratulate. There is a reason to be happy,” said Malvinder Sodhi, Ronjan’s father.

“He is in this profession from 1996 and played internationally in 1999 and won the first medal in 2000,” he added.

“We are very proud of him. I hope that he wins medals in the next world championship also,” said Amrita Sodhi, an aunt of Ronjan Singh Sodhi.

Sodhi currently world ranked 11th set a new world record with a score of 195.

While his opponents failed to hit targets, Sodhi hit them all, climbing in the lead with a perfect final score of 50 hits out of 50 clays. His final score of 195 targets was unbeatable.

Sodhi is a recipient of the Arjuna Award and Punjab Government’s Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award. (ANI)
