Greece, Nigeria at 1-1 after 60 minutes

BLOEMFONTEIN, South Africa — Greece and 10-man Nigeria remain tie at 1-1 after 60 minutes of their Group B match at the World Cup.

Kalu Uche put Nigeria ahead in the 16th minute, curling a free kick in from 35 yards. Striker Dimitris Salpingidis equalized for Greece just before halftime with a right-footed drive that deflected off Nigeria defender Lukman Haruna and into the net.

Uche almost put Nigeria back ahead just after the break with a neat flick from the touchline, but Greece keeper Alexandros Tzorvas pushed the ball over the crossbar.

Nigeria was reduced to 10 men in the 33rd minute after midfielder Sani Kaita received a red card for pushing and kicking Greece’s Vassilis Torosidis after the ball was out of play.
