ISLAMABAD - The High Commission of New Zealand in Dubai is hesitant to give visas to the Pakistani players for the upcoming Davis Cup tie scheduled for next month against New Zealand, despite the Pakistan Tennis Federation’s repeated attempts.

“The PTF is trying hard to get visas for the national team to feature in the Davis Cup tie but the High Commission of New Zealand in Dubai is not willing to entertain our request despite repeated attempts,” the Daily Times quoted a source in the Pakistan Tennis Federation, as saying.

According to the paper, PTF had faced a tough time when they tried to get visas through mail as there was no High Commission or consulate of New Zealand in Pakistan and the government had banned the transportation of passports through post.

The Pakistan team members are scheduled to fly to New Zealand on July 2.

“The PTF also wrote to International Tennis Federation (ITF) for interference but the global body expressed its reluctance saying that getting visas is the responsibility of the respective teams,” the source added. (ANI)
