DAYTONA BEACH (GaeaTimes.com)- Coke Zero 400 on Saturday witnessed one of it’s wildest race ever with a total of 20 car crashes on a rain interrupted day. Still it didn’t stop Kevin Harvick from winning Coke Zero 400 in a close finish.

Coke Zero 400 had a delayed start by two hours due to the rains. Even after the race started, the drivers faced serious challenge to steer their vehicles through the wet tracks which took a heavy toll on the tires as well. Some of the early pit stop drivers in Coke Zero 400 were Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson. All of them had their tires replaced within an hour of the race. The rain also postponed the finish of Coke Zero 400 by 19 minutes and 34 seconds that added to the frustration of the drivers. Kasey Kahne encountered double accidents and finally made it to the second position right after Kevin Harvick. Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished third and fourth respectively while Jeff Burton finished fifth.

Coke Zero 400 which is held at the Daytona International Speedway shall be repaved all over the facility starting from Monday. This is the first ever face lift at Daytona International Speedway after 1978 and involved a total cost of $20 million. The Saturday race was unarguably the wildest race at Coke Zero 400 in the recent times and the drivers like Kyle Busch put the blames on bad weather and old tires slowing him down. Kyle Busch had parked his car right after the 35th clap when A.J. Allmendinger attempting a turn, clashed right into his car upsetting Kyle Busch.
