ANAHEIM (GaeaTimes.com)- David Ortiz is back and this time with the same old vigor that had made him one of the top hitters of the Major League Baseball. The Boston Red Sox’ David Ortiz who is best known for his power swings seemed to be the master of the field on Monday night at the Home Run Derby that had some top hitters missing from the field this season. David Ortiz who participated in the game for fourth time won his first Home Run Derby title on Monday. The slugger hit 32 home runs in total from the three rounds and won the trophy leaving behind runner-up Hanley Ramirez of the Florida Marlins and Corey Hart of the Milwaukee Brewers who finished third.

David Ortiz came up with some power packed swings on Monday at the Angel Stadium. Although before the pregame introductions, the crowd booed David Ortiz remembering the clash between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels. However, all these hardly affected David Ortiz who had last appeared in the Angel Stadium back in 2007 during AL division series. Therefore, once the player got the chance to get into action he proved his worth as home runner and drove the balls above the right-field walls.

In the first round David Ortiz delivered a decent eight homers and in the second he picked up pace and came forward with 13 homers. He barely missed a single shot. In the third round David Ortiz secured his win in the game with his amazing homers on the first four swings. The player dedicated his trophy to Jose Lima, a former MLB pitcher who passed away this year in May.
