New York (GaeaTimes.com) - The Espys awards ceremony is now going on in the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The award is given every year for the whole sports world to celebrate the best sport stories of the year. We see a lot of celebrities and well known athletes. This year it is the 18th Annual ESPYs after it started in 1993. It will be hosted by Seth Meyers, the anchor of Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update. He will be joined by the all star lineup of top athletes and entertainers. It is broadcast live for the first time since 2003.

Here are some of the awards and nominees. The Best Male Atheletes nominations are for Drew Brees, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Jimmie Johnson, and Albert Pujols. Drew Brees is known for leading the New Orleans Saints top a Super Bowl this year and he is the reigning Super Bowl MVP. Kobe Bryant led Los Angeles Lakers to a championship after being down in the Finals to their challengers. LeBron James is the two time reigning MVP in the NBA. He is second in the league in scoring per game. He is perhaps the reason for the Cleveland having the best record in the NBA. Jimmie Johnson had seven wins, 16 top 5 finishes and 24 top 10 finishes and he has won the AP Male Athlete of the year last year, which is the first for a race car driver. Albert Pujols is the current NL MVP with second position in the league on base percentage and third in walks. He also led the league in home runs.
